SUNFLOWERS
by Barbie Sanchez

Having lived in Menifee for 39 years, I have witnessed our quiet rural landscape transform into a bustling suburban city. Amidst this constant state of change, the brilliant sunflowers blooming along the roadsides every summer serve as my anchoring inspiration. They are a resilient, unchanging symbol of our valley's roots. Through this piece, I capture these fleeting, golden remnants of our past, inviting viewers to pause and find solace in the beautiful elements of our environment that refuse to be erased.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
For 39 years, Barbie Sanchez has called Menifee home. At 58, this retired Menifee School District teacher has traded grading pens for watercolor brushes and quilting needles. When I am not stitching together vibrant fabrics or watercoloring cards for friends, you can find me hiking scenic trails, on a cruise, or fueling my next amateur art project with a strong cup of coffee. My husband and two adult children, Annie and Jared, support me along the way. I am happily living my best life in Menifee.
