WHEAT FIELDS
by Connie Nicholson

A watercolor and gouache landscape showing the view looking east over the area where Walter Zeiders wheat farm may have been in the 1930's. The view of Bell Mountain, the San Jacinto Mts, and Idyllwild is in the background. It features a Pennsylvania Dutch barn, like the one belonging to Walter Zeiders and a farm house from the same time period. Inspiration was drawn from photos from the book, "Images of America: Menifee Valley" and from a visit to the Menifee Historical Museum. Wheatfield Park was named in honor of our wheat farming families of the past.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
My name is Connie Nicholson. I have lived in Menifee for 9 years. I am a retired teacher who taught elementary through 8th grade for 31 years. As a teacher, I shared my love of art with my students by integrating art into the curriculum. It wasn't until I retired 2 years ago that I began doing art myself. I mostly work in watercolor, but I also enjoy oil pastels. I am still learning to work with acrylics. I would love to be a part of the beautification of Menifee and in bringing art into the lives of our residents.
