JOYCE HAYES
Artist Spotlight - November 2025
Written by Jonathan Greenberg
Arts Council of Menifee is pleased to announce that Joyce Hayes is our featured Artist Spotlight. Joyce is a multi-talented artist who specializes in touch-art. Her paintings, mostly of people, jump off the canvas literally and figuratively. Where most artists prefer you admire their creations from a distance, Joyce encourages everyone to touch her art and feel the busts of the people she has painted/sculpted.
She developed her touch-art after suffering a traumatic brain (TBI) injury in 2018, which generally affected the right side of her brain. While recovering slowly from her TBI, Joyce noticed that the right side of her brain, the creative side, grew by leaps and bounds. Thus, she created touch-art, which has been recognized by the County of Los Angeles, the City of Ontario, and now by Arts Council Menifee. She displays her art throughout Southern California including San Diego.
Mary Carnes, current President of Arts Council Menifee has this to say, "“Joyce Hayes brings art to life—literally. Her imaginative 3D painted sculptures are so expressive and lifelike, you feel compelled to strike up a conversation, and their eyes seem to follow you around the room. Joyce’s work doesn’t just fill a space; it creates a moment.”
In Menifee, Joyce is a fixture in our vibrant arts community. She regularly participates in Arts Council Menifee events, senior citizen events, and she is a guest speaker in our Menifee schools. Arts Council Menifee is proud to recognize Joyce Hayes for all her contributions to the arts!
