WHAT IS ACORN QUEST?

The first annual Menifee Acorn Quest is a community-wide scavenger hunt where residents search for hidden acorns at participating businesses. It encourages local shopping, builds Menifee community engagement and brings residents directly to your storefront for a fun, memorable experience! #menifeeacorn #menifeeacornquest #acornquest

A Meaningful Symbol

Our iconic acorn-adorned overpass welcomes everyone who enters Menifee, while the historic oak trees connect us to the land and our community’s natural beauty. The acorn also celebrates the Luiseno tribe’s traditions and enduring legacy. The humble acorn is a reminder of our rich history and an invitation to connect with our vibrant community today!

Acorn Quest Decoration Guidelines

Thank you for sharing your creativity with Menifee’s Acorn Quest! To help make your acorn a lasting, inspiring part of our citywide scavenger hunt, please follow these guidelines:

 

1. Mediums & Materials

  • You are welcome to use your preferred art medium (such as acrylic paint, markers, collage, or mixed media).

  • All materials must be securely attached to the acorn and able to withstand handling and weather. Use spray adhesive or glue. No loose or dangling items.

2. Painting Themes

  • Choose a theme that celebrates Menifee! Consider:

    • Local landmarks (parks, historic sites, iconic overpass, etc.)

    • Menifee history (inspiration can come from the museum, landmark tours, or city websites)

    • Your favorite aspect of living in Menifee—community, nature, events, or people

    • What makes Menifee unique or great

    • Teaching the community something new or sharing a creative, original idea

3. Do Not Include

To ensure our event is inclusive and family-friendly, please do NOT include:

  • Profanity or offensive language

  • Brand names, logos, or advertisements

  • Political statements or imagery

  • Themes or images deemed inappropriate or divisive

4. Who Can Participate?

  • Residents of Menifee of any age: individuals, families, organizations, community groups, and local clubs are all invited to join!

5. Acorn Care & Ownership

  • Please take care to protect your acorn while decorating.

  • The painted acorn will not be returned to the decorator. All acorns are property of Menifee Arts Council and will be on display after the game for all residents to enjoy.

6. Returning the completed acorn to the Acorn Quest team.

  • Please text or call 951-852-9744 when your painted acorn is ready to be picked up.  You can also send an email to artscouncilmenifee@gmail.com to arrange a pick up. Do this no later than January 10, 2026.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Sign Up: Register your business (HURRY, only 20 businesses get to participate!)

 

    2. Get Your Acorn:  You will receive an acorn decorated by one of our local artists or organizations once you join the quest.

 

    3. Hide Your Acorn: Place your acorn with QR code in a visible location at your location.

 

    4. Reward Players: Residents will scan your acorn’s QR code to enter to win prizes AND receive your special discount or deal.​


    5. Easily Promote the Game: Display free signage and share the fun on social media.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Who can participate in Acorn Quest?

Anyone in the community! The hunt is open to all ages and promotes local exploration.

 

2. How do I hide the acorn?

The acorn should be “hidden in plain sight”, accessible but subtly placed for a fun discovery. For example, hide the acorn on a high shelf or sitting on an existing sign or display.

 

3. Is there a cost to participate?

Participation for businesses is free; costs for acorn items and QR codes are provided at no cost.

 

4. Who is running the Acorn Quest game?

The Menifee Arts Council in collaboration with the Menifee Valley of Commerce is proud to sponsor this exciting event!

 

5.  Why acorns?

The acorn is a meaningful symbol in our community. The acorn-adorned overpass welcomes visitors and highlights our unique character, while our historic oak trees connect us to Menifee’s natural beauty. Acorns are also a tribute to the Luiseno tribe, who have always valued them in their traditions. By making the acorn a central part of this activity, we are inviting everyone to celebrate our rich history and participate in building community spirit today!

 

6. How does the QR discount work?

Game players scan your unique QR code with their phone to receive a digital discount or coupon, redeemable immediately at your store.

 

7. What kind of discount should I offer?

Suggested offers include 10% off, a free sample, or other small perks. You can choose what works best for your business.

 

8. What if I have multiple locations?

Please choose one location to participate. 

 

9. How will my business be promoted?

All participating businesses will be listed in event materials, maps, press releases, and social media shoutouts.
